As we shift into the core of the Act phase, the focus now moves from theory to practice. With our survey paper well underway and a strong theoretical foundation laid, it's time to breathe life into our ideas through implementation. That means building models, processing data, and testing what works—and what doesn’t.

To ensure we make the most of our collective strengths, we’ve divided responsibilities among the team, with each member focusing on a specific modality or task within the emotion recognition pipeline.

Who's Doing What?

  • Hejer Ayedi will be leading the development of models, with a special focus on EEG + EOG signal processing. Her role covers everything from preprocessing raw signals to building robust architectures for emotion classification.

  • Bechir Mejri is diving deep into brain-to-text translation using EEG signals. His goal is to extract meaningful patterns from neural activity and map them to human language in emotionally relevant ways.

  • Bassem Ben Ghorbel will be working on tone analysis, focusing on speech prosody to help detect emotional states from how things are said, not just what’s said.

  • Wafa Meddeb is taking charge of facial analysis. Her task is to build and train models that can accurately read facial expressions and associate them with emotional states.

  • Taha Ghazouani is focusing on ECG signals, exploring how changes in heart rate and rhythm can signal stress, excitement, calmness, and other emotions.

  • Sabaa will be responsible for working on standard EEG analysis, helping to extract brainwave patterns and features that support the rest of the multimodal system.

The Power of Specialization

By assigning each team member a specific area of focus, we’re able to go deeper, explore further, and prototype faster. This structure allows us to work in parallel, share discoveries across modalities, and ultimately build a more robust and insightful system for multi-modal emotion recognition.

Each modality brings its own challenges—and its own story. We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to show you more in the weeks ahead.

Stay tuned. 🚀
